We are proud to announce Katherine Vining as the recipient of our 2014 “Living Your Bhakti” grant! Katherine lives in San Francisco and works for Earl’s Organic Produce as the Sustainability and Vendor Compliance Manager, a program she has created for the company.
Katherine graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2011 with a BA in Global Economics and a GPA of 3.78. She earned the “Leader in Campus Sustainability Award” while she was there and also worked for the Business Council on Climate Change (BC3) as a Climate Action Fellow. Katherine’s devotion, or her Bhakti, is to pursue a career as a Sustainability Strategist who consults with both municipal governments and agricultural operations to develop climate action plans. She believes it is crucial to gain access to capital financing in order to implement sustainable innovations for growing and procuring produce for future generations.
“I admire Bhakti Chai’s commitment to empowering individuals with the tools and resources to proliferate social and environmental responsibility. I am so excited to continue cultivating and contributing to the community of strong female entrepreneurs and intrepreneurs working tirelessly to build and promote a sustainable food system. Thank you Bhakti Chai for the amazing opportunity this grant has awarded me!”
Katherine will put the “Living Your Bhakti” grant towards a dual MPA and MBA degree from Presidio Graduate School.
We are honored to be part of Katherine’s life journey and wish her the best of luck!
